KUCHING, Nov 17: A 30-year-old woman died while receiving treatment following an accident that occurred at Balingian, Selangau, at around 2.45pm on Sunday (Nov 16).
In a statement, Mukah district police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said that the victim, who was alone, was driving from Sekolah Sungai Bawang to Sibu when it was believed that she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a palm tree by the roadside.
As a result of the crash, the victim sustained injuries to her legs.
He said that the victim’s husband arrived at the location to bring the victim to the Selangau health clinic for treatment, but she passed away at around 4.20pm.
Meanwhile, he said that another single-vehicle accident involving a pick-up truck also occurred at the same location, but no casualties were reported.
The case will be investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He also appealed to witnesses to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the investigating officer, Inspector Mohd Rahmat Jalimin, at 011-3162 7137 or approaching their nearest police station. — DayakDaily
