3 oil palm plantations in Sri Aman raided, 58 immigrants arrested

SRI AMAN, Sept 8: A total 58 illegal immigrants including 11 women were arrested in an integrated operation in Sri Aman here last Friday (Sept 6).

Sri Aman District Police Chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the operation which commenced from 8pm until 2am the next morning was conducted at a workers’ quarters of Tabaruk Abadi Estate Plantation, Salcra Pakit/Undop Plantation and Sarawak Plantation Melugu/Po Ai (SPAD).

“This operation was carried out because there were complaints from the local community regarding the presence of illegal immigrants in the palm oil plantation area in Sri Aman District.

“All illegal immigrants caught have been taken to the Sri Aman Immigration Office for further action,” he said in a statement yesterday (Sept 7).

The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63. — DayakDaily
