3 nabbed for suspected drug abuse at Miri parking lot

MIRI, Feb 14: Three people, including a woman, was arrested by Miri Narcotics Crime Investigation Division here yesterday for alleged drug abuse.

Police moved in when they spotted the suspects, aged 24, 27 and 31 years, behaving suspiciously inside a car at a parking lot in Jalan Bendahara at about 1.15pm.

Led by Insp Mohammed Basheer, the raiding party found red aluminium foil tabs containing 49 pills believed to be nimetazepam weighing 13.36 grammes and with a street value of about RM1,200.

Nimetazepam, also called Erimin 5, is an intermediate-acting hypnotic drug.

Miri deputy police chief Supt Sabri Zainol, in confirming the arrest, said two of the suspects were tested positive for methamphetamine (syabu).

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
