BINTULU, Feb 14: Eighteen men, aged between 19 and 45 years, were rounded up during ‘Ops Sarang’ yesterday morning for suspected drug abuse.
The operation was mounted by Bintulu District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at the old Bintulu bazaar around 10am.
Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili, in a statement, said all the suspects — all of them locals — tested positive for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or two years’ imprisonment upon conviction. — DayakDaily
