KUCHING, Nov 6: The police arrested three men for flying drones without permission or licences near the Petra Jaya and Serian nomination centres yesterday (Nov 5).
Sarawak police commissioner CP Dato Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the first incident took place in the compound of the P194 Petra Jaya nomination centre.
The suspect, a man in his forties, was arrested at 9.20am at a house in Taman Peaceful, Jalan Semarak, Petra Jaya while a drone belonging to the suspect was confiscated.
The second incident happened near the P199 Serian nomination centre where two men in their thirties were detained with their drone, remote control and handphone confiscated.
“Following the incidents, the police have opened two investigation papers under Section 447 of the Penal Code/ Rule 140 of the Civil Aviation Regulations (PPPN) 2016.
“All three suspects have been released on police bail after the investigation was completed.
“All investigation papers will be completed immediately and referred to the deputy prosecutor for further instructions and decisions,” said Mohd Azman in a statement today.
Meanwhile, he said the Sarawak police have on Nov 5 approved 16 permits for ‘ceramah’ to be held by political parties during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign period. — DayakDaily
