KUCHING, March 11: Three people were killed, and five more were injured in a two-vehicle accident along the Bintulu-Samalaju coastal road this morning.
According to a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) report, an emergency call was received at 6.51am, and firefighters from the Kidurong station were deployed with assistance from the Samalaju station.
Upon arrival, the operations commander noted that the accident involved a lorry and a car.
“The lorry driver managed to come out from the vehicle with a broken leg, whereas two passengers sustained light injuries. All three are males.
“As for the five people in the car, three (two women and one man) passed away at the scene, and two male passengers, whom passersby managed to assist, were severely injured,” said the report.
The victims were extricated using rescue tools and handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
