KUCHING, June 9: Sarawak recorded three deaths from Covid-19 with 419 new cases today.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement disclosed that the total death toll in the state now stands at 330, and the cumulative total of positive cases now stands at 53,000 cases.
The first death, a 66-year-old man in Kapit, tested positive for the virus on May 25. He had comorbidities of high-blood pressure and chronic lung disease.
Another man aged 79 who tested positive for the virus on May 24 also died in Kapit Hospital. He had comorbidities of high-blood pressure and chronic kidney disease.
In Sibu, a 66-year-old woman tested positive for Covid-19 on May 28. She had comorbidities of high-blood pressure, diabetes and dyslipidemia.
Of the 419 new cases, 294 or 70.17 percent of the total were detected in Kuching, Bintulu, Sri Aman, Sibu and Lubok Antu districts.
Kuching again topped the list at 124, followed by Bintulu (89), Sri Aman (28), Sibu (27), Lubok Antu (26), Subis (16), Miri (15), Kapit (13), Samarahan (12), Song (11), Asajaya (11), Selangau (6), Matu (6), Bau and Tatau (four each); Kanowit, Serian, Lawas, Tebedu and Sebauh (three each); Sarikei, Lundu, Meradong, Dalat and Beluru (two each); Kabong and Bukit Mabong (one each).
A total of 47 have showed signs and experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening. ā DayakDaily
