MIRI, Dec 28: Thanks to an alert neighbour, three men were nabbed yesterday for allegedly stealing car batteries in Pujut 8C here.

The neighbour spotted the trio on closed-circuit television (CCTV) and witnessed how eight car batteries were shoved into a wheelie garbage bin within 10 minutes.

The stolen batteries were found inside this wheelie garbage bin. Here an RC member is seen pulling the seized bin.

They then moved on to Pujut 9, purportedly to steal some more batteries.

However, swift action by policemen in a mobile police vehicle (MPV) and members from four Resident Committees (RCs), namely Pujut, Saberkas, Permyjaya and Piasau, successfully cornered the suspects at around 11.30am.

The suspects are currently being detained at Miri Central Police Station (CPS) to facilitate the investigation.
