2yo girl among three injured in two-car collision at Jalan Merapok Lawas

LAWAS, July 6: A collision occurred at the intersection of the old Jalan Ba’kalalan and Jalan Merapok in Lawas involving a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a four-wheel drive vehicle (4WD).

The accident, which took place this morning, resulted in multiple injuries and the entrapment of one victim.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue operation centres, the Lawas Fire Station received an emergency call at 10.02am, and a team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the operations commander confirmed the collision involved three female occupants in the MPV aged two, 45, and 65, who all sustained injuries.

The driver of the 4WD, a 45-year-old male, was also involved in the crash.

Two of the victims from the MOV were freed by bystanders before the emergency services arrived, but one victim remained trapped inside the vehicle.

The fire brigade worked swiftly to extricate the trapped victim, with assistance from the medical team of the emergency and trauma unit from Lawas Hospital.

Following their release, the injured were transported to Lawas Hospital for further medical treatment.
