KUCHING, June 30: A total of 250 employees of the Office of Premier of Sarawak (OPS) and 30 asnaf (less fortunate members of the public) received donations of korban (sacrificial) meat in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations.
The korban meat was presented by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg himself at Wisma Sabati (Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak) here today.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the programme was organised by OPS in collaboration with Sarawak Foundation, Sabati and Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (Maksak) Sarawak.
About 500 people attended the programme involving several government agency employees with nasyid performances from two local groups.
It is understood that nine cows donated by OPS (2), Maksak (2), Sabati (1) and Sarawak Foundation (3) have been slaughtered.
Earlier, Abang Johari and wife Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang also performed the symbolic gimmick of cutting the cow meat.
Also present were Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar and wife Puan Sri Datin Amar Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar; Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and wife Datin Sri Enn Ong Siok Ean; Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi; and Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang. — DayakDaily
