KUCHING, Nov 27: A 27-year-old local man tragically lost his life on Tuesday (Nov 25) after his motorcycle collided with a car on Jalan Camar at around 5.20pm.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said preliminary investigations revealed that the accident occurred when a car travelling from Petra Jaya towards Jalan Kong Ping attempted to make a right turn at a junction and was struck by the motorcycle, which was moving straight.
“Paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) confirmed the death of the motorcyclist at the scene, while the car driver, a 69-year-old local man, escaped uninjured,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 26).
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. Conviction can result in imprisonment of five to ten years and a fine of RM20,000 to RM50,000.
