According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the cannons were donated by Peter Hamer, an engineer who served with Sarawak Shell Berhad in Miri from 1976 to 1984.

During his time in Sarawak, Peter collected the cannons, which hold deep cultural significance for the region.

He expressed his desire to return these historical artefacts to Sarawak, ensuring that they will be preserved and appreciated by future generations in their place of origin.

These intricately crafted miniature cannons, symbolising Borneo’s rich artistic heritage, will now become part of the Sarawak Museum’s esteemed collection, further solidifying its status as a global hub for cultural and historical artefacts. — DayakDaily
