SIBU, Oct 1: A 25-year old shipyard worker died three hours after his motorcycle was involved in an accident with a lorry at Jalan Wong King Hoe yesterday (Sept 30).
Sibu District Police Chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the police received a call reporting the accident at 3.15pm.
Following police investigation, he revealed that the victim, Mohd Firdaus Mohd Taufiq, was riding a motorcycle to Jalan Salim area where he changed to the right lane of the road.
“However, he rammed into the left side of a lorry which had broken down,” he added.
The victim from Kampung Jemoreng, Matu was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to serious head injury at 6.20pm.
“We have detained the driver of the lorry aged 29 for investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said. — Dayakdaily
