25,369 to receive Gawai Dayak assistance in Sarawak

MIRI, May 12: A total of 25,369 individuals of targeted groups in Sarawak will receive assistance in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak 2023 celebration.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the news was revealed by Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Sarawak, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, during Majlis Sejambak Kasih Gawai Dayak 2023 for Miri Division here today.

In Miri alone, 1,565 beneficiaries will receive financial assistance amounting to RM156,500.


“A total of 100 aid recipients were invited to attend today’s event to receive RM100 cash and hampers worth RM150 donated by CSR Dynasty Hotel.

“For those who did not have the opportunity to attend today’s event, the assistance of RM100 will be credited to their respective accounts,” she said during the event.

It is understood that the assistance is to ease the financial burden and cheer up the aid recipients in conjunction with the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebration.

Meanwhile, Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said that in preparation for the drought season, the Sarawak Social Welfare Department (JKMS) has identified suppliers who will supply drinking water to the affected areas.

Also present were Transport Minister of Sarawak, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin and Deputy Minister of Women and Children Development Sarawak, Datuk Rosey Yunus. — DayakDaily
