KUCHING, June 25: A total of RM1.7 million has been allocated under the Bantuan Ihsan Khas aid programme to be distributed to 2,535 households in Trusan and Sundar districts affected by floods recently.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the Bantuan Ihsan Khas has been approved by the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg after being informed about the floods that have impacted locals in both districts.
Awang Tengah noted that the aid will be distributed to 1,225 households in Bukit Sari constituency, including another 1,280 households in Ba’Kelalan constituency.
āWe are grateful to the Chief Minister when he agreed to provide the Bantuan Ihsan Khas aid programme to help those affected by the floods, which have caused serious damage to properties and crops, as well as public facilities,ā he said after handing over the aid for Trusan and Sundar to the local community leaders, held at Trusan sub-district office, on Thursday (June 24).
Meanwhile, touching on the vaccination programme in Lawas, Awang Tengah, who is also Bukit Sari assemblyman, called on the local community in Trusan to register themselves for the Covid-19 vaccination.
He pointed out that there are still many in Trusan and Lawas who have yet to register themselves for the vaccination and hoped that the local population in both districts would grab the opportunity to get vaccinated.
āIn Trusan, the locals can come directly by walking into the Covid-19 vaccination center (PPV) at Trusan Community Hall for vaccination.
āLocal community leaders also must play their roles by urging and guiding the community under their supervision to register for the vaccination,ā he added. ā DayakDaily
