KUCHING, Jan 21: Sarawakian residents paying more than RM400 assessment rates annually for their residential, commercial and industrial holding premises will enjoy 25 per cent discount for the next six months until June 2021.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg pointed out that this assistance will benefit some 185,000 premises registered under various local authorities.
“The total cost involved is estimated to be RM74.6 million and it will be funded by the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.
“This measure will lighten the burden of not only the people but also businesses in Sarawak,” he addressed the press conference on the latest Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 5.0 via Zoom held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
Assessment bill discounts is as one of the 11 measures under BKSS 5.0 rolled out to reduce the financial burden of Sarawakians during this hard times with major parts of Sarawak now under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) and Sibu Division, MCO.
Abang Johari hoped that the BKSS 5.0 which incurs a total cost of RM405 million, will be able to assist in reducing the financial burden of Sarawakians especially in cutting down business operation costs as major sectors of economy are still running as usual.— DayakDaily
