25 people left homeless in Long Lama fire

KUCHING, Dec 14: A total of 25 individuals were rendered homeless after a fire destroyed two houses in Long Lama, Miri this evening.

Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement today, said they received an emergency call at 5.35pm and nine firefighters from Bomba Lopeng were deployed to the location, which took about two hours to reach.

“Firefighters from Lopeng fire station arrived at the location at 7.50pm, and proceeded to put out the remaining flames by utilising the nearby fire hydrant, which was located about 300 feet from the incident scene, using six reels of hose and two water nozzles,” it said.


The statement added, no casualties were reported in the incident and the operation ended at 8.30pm. — DayakDaily
