KUCHING, Dec 6: Of the 41 victims injured in the CityOne Megamall explosion, 25 are still hospitalised while the rest have been discharged.
According to a press statement by Sarawak Health Director Dr Jamilah Hashim yesterday, among the 41 victims, there were some sustaining burns of various degrees including severe burns with breathing disorders, fractures, injuries to tissue and muscles and shortness of breath.
She said out of the 41 victims, 30 were treated at Sarawak General Hospital, while nine of them at Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) and two at Timberland Medical Centre (TMC).
Of the 30 victims treated at SGH, 20 were still hospitalised where their condition was stable while the rest of the 10 victims have been discharged.
For the nine victims who were sent to BMC for treatment, five of them are treated as inpatients whose condition is also stable while four have been discharged.
The two victims treated at TMC have been treated as outpatients.
A gas explosion occurred at a shop under renovation at CityOne Mall on Tuesday (Dec 4) afternoon. The total number of injuries and casualties was 44, including three fatalities.
Of the three deceased victims, autopsies had been performed on two of them and the bodies had been handed over to the families.
The third victim, who originated from Penang, is expected to be sent back to Penang today (Dec 6, 2018) together with family members who are in Kuching to claim the body. — DayakDaily
