KUCHING, Oct 18: A 24-year-old university student has died in hospital after being discovered unconscious by the roadside near an entertainment outlet in Kuching District at about 3.29am last Monday (Oct 16).
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed today that his department received a police report concerning the incident.
“The victim was sent by employees of the entertainment centre and was referred to a medical facility.
“Regrettably, while en route to the medical facility, she was pronounced deceased by the attending physician,” he said in statement today.
The victim was a student at a private higher education institution located in Kuala Lumpur.
Ahsmon pointed out that initial investigations by police have not uncovered any indications of criminal involvement, and the case is presently categorised as a sudden death (SDR).
“Statements from the girl’s family and several witnesses have been taken and completed,” he added.
The police is committed to conducting a thorough investigation, while waiting for the autopsy report which was scheduled for yesterday (Oct 17).
In light of this, the police advised the public to refrain from speculating on the case, in order to respect the privacy and sensitivity of the victim’s family. — DayakDaily
