KUCHING, April 8: A 24-year-old neuron patient with nursing needs was among four Covid-19 deaths reported in Sarawak today.
According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the girl who passed away yesterday (April 7) was from Samarahan.
On the same day, a 52-year-old man with high blood pressure and pulmonary tuberculosis from Sibu also succumbed to Covid-19.
The other two deaths involved a 71-year-old woman with cancer from Sibu who passed away on April 5 and an 89-year-old woman from Kuching who passed away on April 6. The latter does not has any history of medical illness.
Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 385 new Covid-19 cases with Kuching reported the highest number at 107, followed by Miri (51), Bintulu (42), Sibu (41), Sarikei (24) and Samarahan (14).
Other districts reporting below 10 cases were Simunjan (9), Serian (8), Bau (8), Dalat (8), Sri Aman (8), Limbang (6), Lundu (5), Betong (5), Pusa (5), Pakan (4), Matu (4), Tanjung Manis (4), Mukah (3), Lubok Antu (3), Marudi (3), Kabong (3), Daro (3), Belaga (3), Asajaya (2), Kapit (2), Saratok (2), Meradong (2) while Tatau, Lawas, Selangau, Subis, Sebauh and Julau recorded one case each.
Of the new cases reported, 101 cases were classified as Category 1 (asymptomatic) and 282 cases as Category 2 (mild symptoms).
The remaining two cases were classified as critical, involving one Category 3 patient who has pneumonia and one Category 4 patient who needs oxygen supply.
The latest figures had pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally to 301,883 and the death toll to 1,703.
SDMC also reported that the Jalan Batu Kaya Cluster in Lubok Antu has ended today. — DayakDaily
