KUCHING, April 2: The Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) is implementing 243 critical basic infrastructure projects with a total allocation of RM4.5 billion under the Sarawak government’s funding.

According to a TVS report, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said these projects include the construction of roads and bridges, clean water supply, repairs of dilapidated schools, as well as the development of other small-scale infrastructure that support socio-economic development.

He said the projects are being carried out through three regional development agencies under RECODA inlcuding the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), the Highland Development Agency (HDA), and the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA).

“The implementation of these projects focuses on strengthening connectivity, improving accessibility, and providing better basic facilities, particularly in rural areas and regions that have previously faced development constraints,” he said when speaking at the RECODA Rindok Raya celebration here on Wednesday (April 1).

He emphasised that the initiatives implemented have a direct impact on the people, especially in rural areas that have long faced various limitations in terms of access and development opportunities.

He also highlighted that RECODA not only focuses on physical development but also plays an important role in empowering local communities by improving living standards and creating more inclusive economic opportunities.

He added that development plans are not solely focused on economic aspects but also take into account social well-being, environmental sustainability, and the needs of future generations.

“This reflects a continuous commitment to building a progressive, resilient and sustainable Sarawak,” he added. – DayakDaily
