MIRI, May 20: Twenty-four finalists are eyeing the crowns in the 15th edition of the Miri Division Gawai Dayak beauty pageant, with the finale scheduled for May 25 at Meritz Hotel.
The finalists were selected from a pool of 37 semi-finalists on May 18 (Saturday) night to contest four categories — Keligit, Kumang, Dayung Sangon and Keling-Belawan.
The finalists for the Keling-Belawan category are Eliazer Puret El Loter, Emmanuel Paang Jalong, Henry Jita, Nicholas Kudi, Alexander Kuleh Laing, and Paul Laing.
In the Keligit category, it’s Sharon Yong Fui Choo, Brenda Bulan Nelson, Magdeline Story, Sarah Nasthia Hendrick, Irene Apui, and Cendida Gadung Jok.
The Kumang finalists are Nicole Goldy, Natasha Shareen Pita, Winnie Rohani Panggau, Jill Gelagan, Tasha Jenkins Likan Siti, and Ellis Gawing.
The Dayung Sangon finalists are Quyyns Evysia Waysia, Lydia Hyginus, Ketty Freddy, Jemima Fae James, Daisy Nyoel, and Anatasha Napolean.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is expected to be the guest-of-honour on finale night.
Present at the semi-final selection were Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and the event organising chairwoman Datin Catherine Awing Wan.
At the ends of the semi-final selection, Catherine also received prize sponsorships on behalf of the organisers in the form of Fajar International College scholarships worth RM140,000, Maggie products, and skin care products worth RM6,800 from Padrino Global Solution Sdn Bhd. — DayakDaily
