KUCHING, Dec 13: A long list of Asian celebrities and major high-profile influencers are expected to grace the 23rd Asian Television Awards that will take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Jan 11-13 next year.

Leading the host of celebrities are Malaysian actor/singer Alvin Chong and Via Vallen, who sang the theme song for the recently concluded Asian Games.

Others are Eason Chan, Qu Wanting, Gary Valenciano and Mr Pure Energy, a multi-award winning Filipino-Puerto Rican singer/songwriter, music producer, actor and tv host.

Rising K-POP sensation SF9, comprising Youngbin, Inseong, Jaeyoon, Dawon, Zuho, Rowoon, Taeyang, Hwiyoung and Chani, is expected to be among the main attractions at the awards gala that will be hosted by former MTV Asia’s VJ —0000 Choy Wan and May Wan.

The duo will partner Adrian Jalaludin — a veteran in the Malaysian entertainment industry with over 10 years experience hosting sports and children’s programme, travel and talk shows — as well as Mark Zambrano, a senior tv news anchor and sports correspondent for the Philippines’s GMA News and Public Affairs.

“We are proud to host this prestigious extravaganza for the first time on such glamorous scale, which will attract Asia’s top celebrities, actors and actresses, singers, models and public figures walking the red carpet in the heart of Sarawak,” state Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was quoted as saying at the awards launching here recently.

The awards draw hundreds of entries each year from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air tv stations, pay-tv platforms, digital streaming services as well as many independent production houses in Asia.

Over the three days of awards and festivals, Kuching, like Cannes, will experience the most prestigious and glamorous awards complemented by a gala dinner, live show awards, red carpet arrivals, power-packed stage performances and a public concert involving international talents that will take place on the first day at the BCCK.

The Asian Television Awards in Sarawak will be broadcast to 22 countries with over 500 million homes across the Asia Pacific.

The show is set to witness invited guests from the creme de la creme of the television industry, with over 300 international delegates comprising award-winning film producers, directors, performers, host talents, judges, key sponsors, nominees and celebrities from participating countries all over Asia.

The 23rd Asian Television Awards has revealed the full list of nominees for each category on its social media platforms and official website www.asiantvawards.com.

According to the statement, past participants of the awards included over 200 channels across Asia, such as KBS, NHK, HBO, CNN, Bloomberg, BBC, Al-Jazeera, TV18, Discovery Networks, Imagine Group, Viacom International Media Networks, Astro, Media Prima, Pt Televisi Indonesia, Mediacorp, CGTN, PCCW, Formosa, ABS-CBN, BBTV, SMG and many others. — DayakDaily
