22yo obese woman latest BID case in Sarawak as Kuching registers triple-digit cases for Day 27

KUCHING, Aug 7: A 22-year-old woman in Kuching is one of the two Covid-19 deaths reported in Sarawak today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the woman who was obese was a brought-in-dead (BID) case.


“Another Covid-19 fatality was a 57-year-old man from Serian who had high blood pressure and dyslipidemia comorbidities. This brought the Stateā€™s death toll to 468,” it said.

SDMC also reported that Kuching registered 261 daily infections today, contributing 45.55 per cent of the total 573 cases in Sarawak.

This is the 27th consecutive day that Kuching recorded triple-digit cases.

On the breakdown of the cases, Kuching reported 261, followed by Serian (79), Simunjan (41), Samarahan (29), Sibu (28), Bau (21), Mukah (14), Miri (13), Sri Aman (12), Lundu (12), Selangau (12), Meradong (9), Dalat (7), Bintulu (6), Kapit (6), Subis (7), Asajaya (4), Tebedu (4), Saratok (2) and Lawas (2).

Meanwhile, Kanowit, Song, Marudi, Tatau, Kabong and Pakan districts recorded one case each.

Of the total cases, 323 cases were screened after having contact to positive cases, 130 from other screenings in health facilities, 60 individuals linked to active clusters, 58 detected from screening of symptomatic individuals and two Import B cases involving individuals returning from Sabah.

On the same day, Sarawak also reported 227 patients had recovered and discharged from hospitals statewide, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 72,948 or 90.34 per cent of total positive cases.
