SIBU, Aug 29: A 22-year-old man with a mental disorder is feared to have drowned after he fell into the river near Esplanade Sibu today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that a team from Sibu Central Station was immediately dispatched to the location in response to a distress call received at 5.17pm.
The commander leading the operation stated that the man’s sibling was a witness to the incident.
The victim is identified as a person with disability (OKU) card holder.
The search and rescue team conducted surface searching within the vicinity where the victim was reported to have fallen.
Unfortunately, as of 7pm, the victim’s whereabouts remain unknown, prompting the suspension of the operation for the day.
Bomba Sarawak added that efforts to locate the victim will resume tomorrow (Aug 30) morning. — DayakDaily
