SIBU, Feb 10: An early morning fire has completely destroyed the 22-door longhouse Rumah Dingon Megong at the Sekuau resettlement scheme, KM45 Oya, leaving 222 people homeless.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department in a statement, it received a distress call about the fire at 3.26am today. A team of firefighters led by Sibu Fire and Rescue Department chief, Wan Kamaruddin rushed to the scene.
The fire was brought under control at 6.45am.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated as of press time. No casualties were reported. — DayakDaily
