KUCHING, Oct 21: A 21-year-old man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a broken-down lorry at Jalan Ladang Rinwood Pelita Mukah Plantation on Monday (Oct 20).
In a statement, Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident occurred at around 8pm when the victim, who was riding alone, was heading straight from Rumah Kenyana 1 crashed into the back of the lorry that had broken down and stopped on the road.
“As a result, the victim, who worked as a general worker, sustained serious injuries to his head and chest, and was brought to Mukah Hospital for treatment, but died at 9pm,” he said.
He also urged anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Rahmat Jalimin, at 011-31627137 or any nearby police station.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Meanwhile, Rizal advised road users to remain cautious, especially when travelling through poorly lit plantation areas, to prevent similar tragedies from recurring. — DayakDaily
