208 projects worth RM1.464bil approved by Betong devt agency, infrastructure tops with 67 projects worth RM552.24mil

BETONG, May 21: Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) has approved 208 projects worth RM1.464 billion focusing on six sectors.

According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the six sectors are infrastructure, social and women’s affairs, agriculture and food industry, business and entrepreneurship, tourism and environment, and utility and telecommunication.

“Under infrastructure development, BDDA has approved 67 projects worth RM552.24 million, and RM384.59 million was approved for 45 projects under social and women’s affairs development.

“BDDA also approved 42 projects worth RM255.92 million under agricultural and food industry, whereas 32 projects worth RM138.54 million have been approved under business and entrepreneurship,” he said.

He said this during a Betong-level pre-Gawai Dayak dinner at the Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall on Saturday (May 18).

Uggah, who is also Bukit Saban assemblyman, added the tourism and environmental development sector benefited from 13 projects worth RM98.9 million, while the utility and telecommunication sector saw nine projects worth RM34.9 million approved.

Therefore, Uggah hoped that all heads of departments and agencies who assisted in implementing the projects would do their best to complete their respective projects within three years from now.

Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu; Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Sarawak Mohammad Razi Sitam; Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu; and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik were among those present. — DayakDaily
