KUCHING, Aug 21: As the 24-day 2022 Kuching Food Festival (KFF) drew to an end tonight, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng promised to organise a “much better” one next year.

“I can promise you now that next year, we will do it much better than this year,” he said on a Facebook Live session which was streamed from the KFF site earlier today.

Wee expressed special thanks to all the participating stall operators, MBKS management, staff and the KFF organising committee for their hard work throughout this period.

He also thanked all Kuching citizens and those who have taken the time to visit the festival, which so far is one of Sarawak’s biggest public celebrations this year.

“On behalf of the city council, I would like to record my appreciation to everyone who has contributed in one way or another to the success of the Kuching Festival.

“We targeted half-a-million visitors, but we broke the record the one-million mark two nights ago. It came as a surprise, but of course this is an endorsement by the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wee also urged local food operators and entrepreneurs to get ready for next year’s KFF.

He said he would like to see more creative food items being proposed so that Kuching could maintain its reputation as the City of Gastronomy. — DayakDaily
