20 vehicles prevented from travelling on first day of tighter movement controls

KUCHING, Aug 2: A total of 20 vehicles were instructed to turn back after failing to show interzone travel permits yesterday, the first day of stricter movement controls imposed due to the recent resurgence of Covid-19 cases in Kuching.

The roadblocks were held for 24 hours and to make sure that people are obeying the law which was set.

According to a statement from Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner, Datuk Dev Kumar, the police had held two roadblocks at Simunjan and Sri Aman. A total of 701 vehicles were checked during the operation.

The Simunjan roadblock checked 189 vehicles. Nine of them were asked to turn back after failing to show the required travel permit. The Sri Aman roadblock checked 512 vehicles and instructed 11 of them to turn back. — DayakDaily
