20 Indonesians caught for illegal entry into Sarawak

The Indonesians got caught for entering the state illegally.

KUCHING, 14 Aug: A total of 20 Indonesians were caught after attempting to enter Sarawak without any documentation and permits at Jalan Mongkos, Serian on Thursday night.

A team of police led by Inspector Mohd Thaufiq Ahmad Azudin had checked the route at 10.45pm.


According to the General Operation Forces (PGA) Sarawak Commander, 15 males and five females of Indonesian attempted to enter Sarawak with help from another four local suspects.

The four local suspects, who attempted to bribe the police with RM2,000, were believed to be smuggling them into the state.

One motorcycle, a car, two sets of keys, and a mobile phone were confiscated as well during the raid.

The Indonesian nationals were charged under Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) 2007 while the local suspects will be investigated under Section 17(b) Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009 and Section 6(1)(c) Immigration Act 1959/63.—DayakDaily
