MIRI, Feb 26: Two suspects who threatened a security guard with a knife before stealing iron bars from a construction site in Sungai Ukong, Lambir, on Feb 22 have been arrested.
The suspects, both locals, are aged 19 and 29. Both of them were previously arrested in 2017, under Section 379 of the Penal Code, for theft.
Acting on a tip-off, police picked them up from a house in Jalan Maigold Phase 2 at 4.30pm on Sunday.
They were produced in the Miri Magistrates Court yesterday, and the magistrate granted a seven-day remand to facilitate investigation under Section 395 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
According to sources, the suspects allegedly went to the construction site at 9.45pm, threatened the Indonesian security guard with a knife, and carted away iron bars. — DayakDaily
