KUCHING, April 11: The Sessions Court here has sentenced two men to seven months’ imprisonment and three strokes of the cane each for causing grievous hurt to another man.
Kuan Boon Lung, 23 and Larrie Liew Yu Nan, 25, pleaded guilty to the charge framed under Section 326 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34 of the same Code.
Section 326 of the Penal Code carries a maximum imprisonment of 20 years and liable to a fine or whipping, upon conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman convicted them as charged after they were found guilty of voluntarily causing grievous hurt to a 27-year-old victim at the victim’s house in Jalan Budi, Bau at about 10am on March 25.
According to the brief facts of the case, the victim was sent to Bau Hospital at about 10.30pm for treatment.
He was found to have injuries to his head and a fractured hand.
The victim then informed the doctor that he was assaulted by two men, namely Kuan and Liew, and the doctor of the hospital lodged a police report.
During the time of the incident, the victim was sleeping in the living room of his house when both accused entered and started to beat him with a cane and a wooden club.
The incident was believed to have risen from a dispute between both accused and the victim.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Iezzah Iburdanisha Ibrahim prosecuted while both accused were unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
