MIRI, March 29: Two men were arrested here today on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl on March 5.

The suspects, in their 40s and 50s, were picked up at around noon by Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel from a longhouse in Sungai Teniku to facilitate the investigation.

One of the suspects is self-employed, while the one is an estate worker.

The victim is a divorcee.

City police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the arrests were made following a police report lodged by the victim recently.

The alleged rape took place in a longhouse in Sungai Teniku at around noon. It was believed the underage girl was sleeping in the living room of her ‘bilik’ when one of the suspects suddenly lay next to her.

The victim claimed she was then raped.

About an hour later, the second suspect came into her ‘bilik’ and raped her, too.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. — DayakDaily
