2 killed, 2 injured in accident at Jalan Stirau in Sri Aman

KUCHING, April 15: Two were killed while two others were injured in a road accident at Jalan Stirau along Jalan Stumbin in Sri Aman.

According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, they received a call about the accident at 1.27pm and deployed firefighters from the Sri Aman station to the location.


The operation commander reported that the accident involved a cement mixer lorry and a Proton Exora.

“The victims, identified as Joll Mohamad, 56, and Latifah Mohamad, 62, were pinned inside the vehicle following the crash and were confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) after both victims were extricated by the rescue team.”

Another victim, a woman who was inside the Exora, was brought to the hospital by members of the public before the arrival of firefighters.

The lorry driver, who was also pinned inside the lorry cockpit, was rescued later with the help of the excavator and only suffered minor injuries. — DayakDaily
