2 illegal immigrants nabbed in Bintulu for motorcycle thefts

BINTULU, Feb 13: Police arrested two illegal immigrants on Feb 11 and Feb 12 on suspicion of stealing motorcycles, which were reported stolen on Feb 7 and Feb 11.

The suspects, aged 26 and 18, was nabbed during ‘Ops Lejang’, and the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle theft and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for entering the country without valid documents.


Bintulu police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili told a press conference here today that the first suspect was collared on Monday at about 11pm during a raid led by Insp Nixon Malang in Ulu Sebauh barely several hours after the motorcycle was reported missing in Jalan Sultan Iskandar here.

He said the police team noticed that the suspect was behaving suspiciously and was riding on a motorcycle without a registration plate.

Supt Zulkipli said the second suspect may be connected to the first suspect.

“The second suspect was detained at Jalan Tanjong Kidurong around 10.45pm, and we seized the motorcycle that was reported missing from a flat at Jalan Bintulu/Tatau here on Feb 7,” he said. — DayakDaily
