MIRI, May 1: Two individuals were detained and cigarettes worth RM36,821.80, inclusive of unpaid customs duties, were seized by Customs Department personnel during a raid here yesterday.
In the 3.30pm incident, eight Customs officers raided a shophouse at Jalan Desa Indah 2 in Bandar Baru Permyjaya.
The contraband was kept inside the shophouse, and it is understood that the duo nabbed were the shophouse’s owners.
The case is being investigated under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 for possession of goods not approved by Customs. — DayakDaily
