2 brothers drown after being swept away by waves at Pantai Lutong

KUCHING, Dec 12: Two brothers, Muhammad Faris Zamri, 16, and Muhd Nur Fadilah Zamri, 23, were found dead after being swept away by waves at Pantai Lutong in Miri.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.17pm today and immediately deployed personnel to the location.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victims were bathing at the beach following a fishing trip with a friend when they were swept away by strong waves.

The friend, who witnessed the incident, called the 999 emergency hotline for assistance.

The first victim was discovered lying on the beach at 2.40pm, while the second victim was found ten minutes later, about 30 meters from the shore.

Both victims were pronounced dead by a medical officer from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Their bodies have since been handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
