2 arrested, 430,000 litres of subsidised diesel worth RM924,500 seized in raid on tanker vessel near Sg Sarawak

KUCHING, Feb 12: Two men were arrested and 430,000 litres of subsidised diesel worth over RM924,500 was seized in raid on a tanker vessel near the barrage on Sungai Sarawak.

Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sarawak director Matthew Dominic Barin in a statement today said on Feb 11, KPDN Sarawak received a handover from Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 resulting from a raid conducted.

According to Dominic, two detained men—a local man and a Myanmar citizen—were also handed over by Sarawak Marine Police Region 5 to the ministry’s enforcement team for further action.


“The subdsidised diesel with an estimated value of RM924,500 was seized together with the tanker vessel, bringing the total value of seizure to about RM5 million,” he said.

He added the two men will be investigated under Section 21 of the Supply Control Act 1961.

“Further investigation will be carry out under the Supply Control Act 1961 to identify individuals or company involved,” he said. — DayakDaily
