PPK general manager remanded six days as MACC investigates alleged abuse of power

KUCHING, Jan 11: A general manager for a Area Farmers Organisation (PPK) has been remanded for six days starting today for alleged abuse of power in connection with a Sarawak government department’s activities, involving RM27,800 in 2020.

The remand order against the 58-year-old male suspect was issued by Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

The magistrate granted the MACC’s application for a six-day remand until Jan 17 to assist in the investigation.

The suspect was arrested on Jan 10 at about 3.30pm at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak office.

He is suspected to be involved in misusing his position as a general manager to appoint a company to provide services related to souvenirs and an appreciation ceremony for a Sarawak government department in 2020, worth RM27,800.

The case is being investigated under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Act 2009. — DayakDaily
