19 Covid-19 cases linked to new Sg Serindak Cluster in Selangau


KUCHING, Aug 7: A new Covid-19 cluster involving a longhouse at Selangau has been identified today with 19 positive cases confirmed so far.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily updates on Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that the Sungai Serindak Cluster in Selangau involved a longhouse located at KM98, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu in Sungai Seridak.

Of the 19 positive cases, nine cases were detected today.
A total of 35 individuals have been screened, whereby 16 have tested negative and no lab test results were pending.


All positive cases have been admitted to the Sibu Hospital as well as Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) Sibu.

SDMC has also today declared the end of three clusters namely Nyelutong Cluster in Betong, Jalan Sagang in Bau and 35 Bintulu in Bintulu, after no new local cases were reported in the last 28 days.

With that, the number of active clusters in Sarawak now stood at 83, out of which 11 clusters have registered an increase in daily infections with 60 more cases.

They are Kampung Quop Cluster in Kuching which added 16 more cases; Kampung Bintawa Ulu Cluster in Kuching (13 cases); Kampung Jawa Cluster in Kuching and the new Sungai Serindak Cluster in Selangau (9 cases each); Kandis Pantu Cluster in Sri Aman (6 cases); Mega Suai Cluster in Subis (2 cases); while Tembok Miri Cluster in Miri, Kampung Kendaie Cluster in Lundu, Jalan Tatau-Selangau Cluster in Tatau, Bunga Rampai Cluster in Bau and Kinda KM18 Cluster in Bintulu has one case each.— DayakDaily
