KUCHING, April 3: Some 18 households at Sungai Apong Baru, Pending that have been issued Temporary Occupation Licences (TOL) today are one step closer to getting their land titles.
Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Youth secretary-general Milton Foo said this is indeed a big step for the residents who have been plagued by the issues of land titles for more than 30 years.
“The Land and Survey, Kuching has finally issued a one-year TOL to the affected residents at Sungai Apong Baru so that they can apply for a land lease within the said validity period.
“Since 2016, after years of perseverance and hard work, and with the assistance of former Kapitan Jong Ziyou and current Kapitan Liew Huiniang, the affected residents have now been issued the TOLs by the Land Office which would enable them to apply for land titles,” he said in a statement today.
He also pointed out that houses on these lands must be self-built and are prohibited from being put on sale, otherwise the TOLs may be retracted and that would put a stop to the application for land titles.
Under these conditions, Foo said he would be assisting the residents in the applications to fulfill their long-awaited dreams of getting the land titles to the houses where they have been staying for decades. — DayakDaily
