KUCHING, Nov 19: As many as 18 branch heads from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak have pledged to remove the party’s state leadership council (MPN) chief Baru Bian.

Selangau branch chairman Joshua Jabeng in a statement today claimed 18 out of 31 branches have expressed their views, with others possibly following suit.

Joshua was referring to Baru calling off the state convention as a protest of the move to stop the party’s deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali from officiating at the party’s youth wing Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) National Convention.

“Baru needs to understand that the majority wants a change. The state level convention will proceed in Miri on Nov 21 as scheduled. There is no need for Baru to block and embarrass the president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who will be attending to meet the people,” Joshua opined.

He added that MPN Sarawak needs a leader who can lead and dedicate more time to engage with all the branch chairmen especially with the 12th State Election which is just around the corner.

“Baru should be relieved to have one less burden and he can focus on his ministry instead. We ask for our people to understand and be patient.

“Change is never easy nor pleasant but when it’s for the greater good we must accept change,” Joshua added.

Baru is set to hold a press conference on the matter in Sunway Putra Hotel, Kuala Lumpur tomorrow afternoon. — DayakDaily
