17 locals compounded, 2 foreigners arrested for not complying with SOPs

KUCHING, Aug 11: A total of 17 locals and two foreigners have had action taken against them yesterday for not following Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.

“The first raid was held at the BDC market area where four locals were compounded for not wearing face masks,” Kuching District Police Chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani disclosed in a press statement.


“A total of five people comprising three males and two females were compounded at a bistro located at Jalan Song.”

Awang Din added that enforcement personnel also checked a food services premises at King Centre and compounded four males and one female for not adhering to physical distancing.

At a second premises in King Centre, five people were discovered not following SOPs.

Two of them were Indonesians who were later arrested while the other three locals who were with them were compounded.

“Police will continue to monitor the situation in order to prevent the spread of this Covid- 19 virus. Operators will also be compounded if they failed to prepare necessary items such as temperature gun, sanitizers, and others,” Awang Din cautioned. — DayakDaily
