KUCHING, Sept 14: Sixteen longhouses in Pakan, Julau, Meradong, Sarikei and Saratok will start serving the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) beginning today and tomorrow (Sept 15).
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said these longhouses were among 24 localities which have been placed under EMCO.
Those undergoing EMCO starting today until Sept 27 are Rh Ningkan at Lubok Ubi, Rh Ajau at Ulu Kota and Rh Jambai at Ulu Nunggang located within Pakan district; Rh Bunyak, Nanga Dong in Julau; Rh Jawi, Sg Gemuan, Bintangor in Meradong; and three longhouses in Sarikei namely Rh Gundak at Sg Paoh, Rh Guang at Sg Tekalong, and Rh Sumpun at Sg Selidap.
Meanwhile, those which will be placed under EMCO from tomorrow until Sept 29 include six longhouses in Saratok namely Rh Dickson Chendang, Rantau Kechala; Rh Kunjan, Bila Dua, Tekurap, Kabo; Rh Maling, Babang, Krian; Rh Juli, Lempa, Kabo; Rh Ikom, Senyawan; Rh Tayai, Tinting Kelampai, Abu, Krian; and Rh Anita, Balai Badak, Sg Kelampai.
Rh Musit at Sg Kesuli, Bukit Sebangkoi in Sarikei will also undergo EMCO starting tomorrow but only until Sept 28.
SDMC also revealed eight localities have already started EMCO yesterday (Sept 13) which is scheduled to end on Sept 26.
Two of them are in Sebauh namely a rented house of Tan Hock Kee (Rumah Sewa Patrick) above Pasar Sebauh shop and workers’ quarters at Block Nibong, Ratna, Dan Rama, Ladang Jiba, Keresa Plantation, Tubau.
The remaining six are in Bintulu namely Rh Jangu Tahir, Ulu Sebauh; Rh Sibat Sumbang, Batu 29, Jalan Bintulu-Miri; Bintulu; a rented room above Kedai 53 Mini Mart Bintulu; Rh Isa Megong, Sg Sebemban, Jalan Pesisir Kuala Tatau; a rented room above Chieng Dental Clinic, Jalan Keppel, Shahida Commercial Centre; and workers’ quarters for Doriwood Sdn Bhd.
SDMC also announced the extension of EMCO in seven areas, namely Ladang TH Sg Rasau in Simunjan (Sept 14 to 20); Rh Walter, Munggu Demam in Sri Aman (Sept 14 to 28); Rh Endawie, Nanga Jela, Batang Ai in Lubok Antu (Sept 14 to 28); Rh Ubam, Lio, Engkelili in Lubok Antu (Sept 14 to 28); Kampung Simpok in Serian (Sept 15 to 19); Kampung Mundai in Serian (Sept 15 to 19) and Kampung Lintang Baru in Serian (Sept 15 to 19).
The committee announced the end of EMCO at 10 areas today, namely a rented room above Yeo’s Motor in Bintulu; a workers’ quarters of Justrite at Lot 708 Kidurong Industrial Area in Bintulu; Rh Jimbai Saban, Sg Gerong, Jalan Spur Ulu Sebauh in Sebauh; Kampung Tuie in Pusa; Rh Machau, Nanga Kumpang in Lubok Antu; Rh Ujak, Pengasah, Engkelili in Lubok Antu; Rh Maria, Merbong, Engkelili in Lubok Antu; Rh Edwin, Gua Dunggat in Sri Aman; Rh Dennis, Munggu Sawa Ili, Lingga in Sri Aman; and Pekan Sebangan, Kampung Lutong and Kampung Menek, Sebuyau in Simunjan.
