KUCHING, Jan 22: A fire completely destroyed a chicken coop located along Jalan Bakam, Miri at close to midnight last night, killing at least 15,000 chickens.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the fire completely burned down a chicken coop (Farm E1) which has an area of 60 x 400 square feet.
It said, it received a call about the incident at 11.45pm last night, and firefighters from the Miri Sentral fire station were dispatched to the scene, with the assistance teams from the Lopeng fire station.
“There are 15,000 chickens burned in the fire. After ensuring that the fire was completely extinguished and the situation was safe, the teams returned to the station,” it said.
Aside from the chickens, no human casualties were reported in the incident.
The situation was controlled by 12.40am and the firefighters returned to their stations by 1.33am this morning. – DayakDaily
