MIRI, Jan 22: A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years’ jail and 12 strokes of the rotan for raping a minor three years ago.
Sessions Court judge Steve Ritikos handed down the decision today after the accused Muhammad Daniel Abdullah pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was accused of raping the girl, who was then 14-years-old, twice in a room of a workers’ quarters in Lapok, Marudi District, on March 11, 2015, at 2am and 4am.
He was charged under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum of 30 years and whipping upon conviction.
