14 young talents join Sarawak Metro as full-time staff after apprenticeship

KUCHING, Dec 13: Fourteen graduates from Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd’s (Sarawak Metro) Young Talent Programme (YTP) have officially joined the company as full-time staff after completing a two-year apprenticeship.

Sarawak Metro, in a statement today, announced that these individuals represent the second batch of trainees under its YTP initiative.

At the graduation ceremony, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain congratulated the apprentices and urged them to contribute wholeheartedly to the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project.

“My hope is for you to give your best towards the implementation of this noble KUTS project, which will be a game changer for the city’s development,” he said.

“All the knowledge and skills you acquired during your apprenticeship will serve as a solid foundation for you to thrive in the next chapter of your career. Fully utilize and exercise these skills to contribute significantly to this project,” he added.

This year’s YTP graduates include Muhammad Razi Yunus, Jordie Jara Julian, Chairmain Joanna Stephen Cornet, Dayangku Aisyah Ahmad Awang Basuandi, Fa’ezad Resat, Muhammad Afio Rudi, Muhammad Firdaus Aslan, Syammil Mohd Ishak, Alister Junior Jikim, Addery Ingka Andok, Farid Hamizan Roslan, Nur Muhammad Mohamad Toni, Shahrul Shazwan Saribudin, and Dylan Kyle Laga Nelson Jugah.

Jordie Jara Julian received the Best Apprentice Award, while Mohd Samsir Saudah was recognized with the Best Mentor Award.

The YTP is part of Sarawak Metro’s SEED Programme, designed to develop skilled talent for the KUTS project. The programme aims to produce 60 graduates by 2027.

Since its launch in 2021, Sarawak Metro has trained a total of 24 apprentices, including the graduates celebrated today. Currently, 33 additional apprentices are undergoing their training. — DayakDaily
