14 items listed under price control scheme for Christmas

KUCHING, Dec 23: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has listed 14 items under the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP), which will be in effect from Dec 23 to 27, in conjunction with Christmas, which will be celebrated on Dec 25.

The items are imported lamb, tomatoes, green bell peppers, round cabbages from China and Indonesia, carrots, red chilis, potatoes from China, imported shallots, onions, and live old chicken (controlled in Sarawak).

The remaining four items, controlled in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan, are chicken wings, pigs (at farm level), pork belly, and pork meat and fat.


According to a press release by KPDN Sarawak, the 2023 Christmas Maximum Price Scheme will be implemented through the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011.

Price checks can be done on the KPDN website at www.kpdn.gov.my.

“KPDN Sarawak enforcement officers have inspected 81,528 premises since January 1 until Dec 22, 2023, which resulted in 1,117 cases involving confiscation amounting to RM12,318,364.09,” it said. — DayakDaily
