KUCHING, Mar 16: A total of 133 houses in Batu Kawa were repaired with a cost of RM1.99 million since 2018 under the Batu Kawa’s house rehabilitation programme, disclosed Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing said the repair works for another 12 houses are currently in progress.
He said the house rehabilitation programme is one of the development programme implemented by the Sarawak government to help Sarawakians in need.
“Under this programme, Sarawak government will carefully identify houses that needed to be repaired, the selection process is transparent and all applications will need to obtain their community leaders’ recommendation and recognition before they submit their application.
“The identification, verification and approval process will be done by a committee from various government agencies,” he said.
In the meantime, Dr Sim said eligible applicants must be registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare adding that every approved house repair cost will be capped at RM15,000. — DayakDaily
